Angola edge Prairie Heights in baseball action

Angola edged Prairie Heights, 2-0 in NECC baseball action Tuesday evening.

Markus Arnold and Jake Roddy drove in the Hornet runs. Cody Nickols lined a pair of hits and Justin Davis doubled for the victors.

Jared Beechy, Dylan Stayner and David Shannon were the only Panthers to record hits off winning hurler Arnold, who walked four and struckout six in his complete-game gem.

Jacob Heller was the tough-luck losing pitcher for Prairie Heights. Heller walked three and fanned five in six frames.

The setback dropped the Panthers to 8-4 overall and to 2-3 in the NECC.

Claire Grubb, Donna Bowers and Riley Peppler all drove in two runs for Angola in a 9-0 triumph over Prairie Heights in NECC softball play Tuesday.

Peppler went 4-4 at the plate with a triple, a double and two singles. Bowers socked a double and a single, while Grubb poked a couple of singles.

Daina Ball and Madi Moyer each chipped in RBI singles to the Angola ledger.

Chelsea Lively and Amber Neff combined to toss a three-hitter for the Lady Hornets. Lively struckout six in her five-inning stint.

Tailor Vanwagner, Brennica Smith and Rene Lewis each had a hit for the Lady Panthers, now 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the NECC. Emily German and Dani Engel did the pitching for Prairie Heights. Engel fanned six of the 11 batters she faced.
