Angola moved to 4-1 in the NECC and to 12-5 overall with a 4-1 victory at Prairie Heights Tuesday in varsity softball action.
The Lady Hornets broke up a scoreless tie with four runs in the fifth inning. Three of the markers scored on Erica Zachrich’s home run. The homer was Zachrich’s sixth of the season, breaking an Angola single-season record.
That was all the support Lady Horner pitcher Katie Goings needed. Goings limited the Lady Panthers to five hits while striking out four and walking two.
Jordan Engel-Walworth singled home Samantha Fish in the seventh inning for the lone Heights run. Fish, Taryn Terry, Shawna Carbone and Autumn Murphy also had safeties for the Lady Panthers.
Taryn Neff suffered the pitching setback. Neff allowed six hits and walked two.
Prairie Heights dropped to 4-8 with the loss.
