Alverda R. Troyer, 80, LaGrange, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
She was born June 20, 1933, in Shipshewana, to Harvey N. and Gertie J. (Kauffman) Glick.
She was a military wife for 20 years, living with her husband and children in many different states and in Germany. After her husband's retirement from the U.S. Army in 1974, she returned to LaGrange County and was a homemaker and co-owner along with her husband of the former RQ’s Restaurant in LaGrange. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of LaGrange, where she was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women.
She was married August 8, 1952, in North Webster, Ind., to Richard Q. Troyer. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Marsha and James Massino, Madison, Wisc., and Lisa Troyer, Three Rivers, Mich.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Alice Troyer, LaGrange, and Dana and Carol Troyer, Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, David L. Glick, Surprise, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard B. Troyer, and one brother, Elmer Glick.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, February 10, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, at 1st United Methodist Church in LaGrange with Reverend Chris Danielson officiating.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
