Alma Bontreger, 83, LaGrange, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
She was born January 10, 1931, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Dave and Mattie (Yoder) Schrock.
She lived for many years in LaGrange County, moving to the area from Elkhart County. She was a homemaker and had worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at the Wolcottville Grain Elevator and also worked at Starcraft in Topeka. She was a member of Emma Mennonite Church.
She was married October 16, 1954, in Wakarusa, Ind., to Gene Bontreger. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Jean Bontreger, White Pigeon, Mich., Ron and Joann Bontreger, LaGrange, and Rick and Jenny Bontreger, Goshen; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Kurtz, Goshen, Barbara Weaver, Goshen, and Mary Yoder, Middlebury; and one brother, Edward Schrock, Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elizabeth Beck, and one brother, Alvin Schrock.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at Emma Mennonite Church with Reverend Gene Hartman officiating.
