Three players from Lakeland and two each from Prairie Heights and Westview were selected to the 2012 All-NECC softball team in a recent vote by the league’s coaches.
Ashlynn Grubb, Lexie Myers and Lauren McKibben were the Lady Lakers honored. Kayla Feeney and Samantha Fish represent the Lady Panthers, while Kaylene Kaufman and Kayla Yoder made the list for the Lady Warriors.
Four other schools joined Lakeland with three selections to the first team. Erica Zachrich, Brittany Smith and Angel Hedglin were tabbed from Angola; BreAnn Weeks, Darby Roe and McKynzi Grayless secured berths for Central Noble; Morgan Miller, Alyssa Kauffman and Kaela Miller were picked from Fairfield; and Kelsie Peterson, Chelsea Risser and Molly Marsh made the list from West Noble.
Rounding out the first unit are Kasey Gibson and Chandler Blake of Churubusco, Taylor Gearhart and Tessa Coats of Eastside, Kelsey Glendening and Kailyn Sherburne of Fremont, and Lindsey Stoy of Hamilton.
Local players receiving honorable mention votes were Amber Roth of Westview and both Jordan Engel-Walworth and Taryn Neff of Prairie Heights. Others included Tori Smith and Katie Goings of Angola, Haley Duncan of Central Noble, Mariah Herendeen and Savannah Labenz of Churubusco, Erin Strock of Eastside, Megan Beasley and Riley Troyer of Fairfield, Haleigh Sidel of Fremont and Libby Fisher of Hamilton.
