All - NECC football team named

Nine players from LaGrange County, including eight from co-champion Lakeland, were named to the 2013 All-NECC football team in a vote taken last week by the league’s coaches.

Leading the Laker contingent was senior defensive lineman Evan Garretson, who received his third All-NECC award. Earning his second all-conference citation was senior teammate, quarterback William Kelly.

Making their first appearance on the All-NECC list for Lakeland were senior wide receiver Joel Miller, senior tight end Wyatt Petty, senior offensive lineman Chris Lehman, senior place-kicker Marco Olivares, senior linebacker Kyle Casper and senior defensive lineman Morgan Moore.

Prairie Heights senior linebacker Zach Shepard was the lone Prairie Heights player named to the elite list. It is the second such honor for the Panther standout.

Completing the All-NECC offensive unit were quarterback Kyle Mast (Fairfield); running backs Cameron Kitson (Fairfield), P.J. Dean (Eastside), Cody Conwell (Churubusco) and Garren Deck (Central Noble); wide receivers Kadis Renier (Eastside), Nate Beatty (Fremont) and Forrest Glogouski (Fairfield); tight end Corey Sarrazin (Churubusco); linemen Andrew Hager (Fairfield), Tyler Hostetler (Fairfield), Ryan Liechty (Eastside), Skylar Winters (Angola), Jacob Geiger (Churubusco), Steven Ramirez (West Noble) and Adam Hursey (West Noble); and at-large selection Kane Johnson (Churubusco).

Rounding out the All-NECC defensive squad were linemen Dakota Steele (Angola), Carlos Medina (West Noble), Brient Hicks (Churubusco), Tony Zook (Fairfield) and Steve Stonebreaker (Central Noble); inside linebackers Brock Baker (Fremont), Dylan Belcher (Angola), Lyle McParlan (Churubusco) and Lucas Miller (Fairfield); outside linebacker Teegan Brumbaugh (Churubusco), Kyler Warble (West Noble) and Mitch DeWitt (Fairfield); free safeties Austin Bauer (Angola) and Ty Lockhart (Eastside); cornerbacks Nolan Miller (Fairfield), Logan Harris (Churubusco) and Simon Gardner (Angola); and punter Joe Lee (West Noble).

A total of 32 players received honorable mention votes, including six from Prairie Heights and two from Lakeland. Making the grade for the Panthers were seniors Bobby Blum, Corey Johnson, Alex Bentley, Lance Lochamire, Ryder Moore and Dylan Stayner. The two Lakers tabbed were seniors Taylor Raatz and Arron Barker.

The other honorable mention choices were Robbie Horner, Randy Mikonowicz, Nick Spears and Troy Zvirblis all of Angola; Joel Cochard and Brock Noe of Central Noble; Travis Glick and Beau Barkley of Churubusco; Conner Dove, Kraig Whitman, Kyle Franz, Terry Nicholson, Trent Huff, Jesse Eck and Trevor Jakoty of Eastside; Garrett Cole, Reece Miller and Thomas Martin of Fairfield; Kaleb Hayes, Adam Dossett and Logan Peel of Fremont; and Levi Nelson, Payton Schrock and Landon Stover of West Noble.
