Information Technology Director Bob Murphy, who was appointed by county commissioners to administer the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, reported that the county is on schedule to bringing the county buildings into compliance with the law.
Murphy made his report at the county commissioners meeting Monday.
Since the contract was initially let, the federal requirements have been changed to require engineering firms to work in conjunction with architectural firms to assess the needs of the county to come into compliance. “That has happened, and after the report comes back we will need to design a plan to come into compliance,” Murphy stated.
Murphy also reported that the new, upgraded internet service line from CenturyLink was installed Friday afternoon. “We now have about 10 times the bandwidth we had Thursday,” he commented. The service is functioning very well, according to Murphy.
Murphy also presented a three-year IT plan to commissioners. This plan was approved and commissioners noted that it is a working document that may well change over time.
