Abatement started for EZ Freeze location

The Town of Shipshewana has started the process to grant a tax abatement for a facility to be built by EZ Freeze on North Village Drive.

The business is moving from its current location on CR 850W and into a new 25,500 sq. ft. facility. Daryl Lehman told the Shipshewana Town Council that they have outgrown their current location that is in a residential/agricultural area and decided to move the operation into town.

The requested tax abatement is for $854,970. The council passed a resolution declaring that location an Economic Revitalization Area. A public hearing on the proposed abatement will begin at 6 p.m. on May 22.
