The Indiana Department released the results for the 2013 ISTEP tests Wednesday. LaGrange County schools saw some improvements, but overall very little change in scores over the 2012 results.
Westview Schools continues to lead the county with the percentage of students who passed both English/Language Arts and Math, with 76.5 percent passing in 2013. This was down slightly from 2012, when 78.6 percent of students passed both. It is also lower than the district’s 2011 total passing percentage of 78.1.
Both Lakeland and Prairie Heights saw a rise in the percentage of students passing both sections.
Prairie Heights went from 67.8 percent in 2012 to 71.8 percent in 2013.
Lakeland went from 63.9 percent in 2012 to 65.3 percent who passed both sections in 2013.
In the English/Language Arts sections, Westview had 78.4 percent pass, Prairie Heights had 75.8 percent and Lakeland had 72.8 percent.
The math section saw higher scores, with Westview seeing 89.6 percent of its students passing, Prairie Heights at 84.7 percent and Lakeland at 80.3 percent.
Statewide, scores went up, with 79.5 percent of students passing the English/Language Arts portion of the test and 82.7 percent passing math up from 79.4 percent for English/Language Arts and 81.2 percent for Math in 2012. For both sections, 73.5 percent of students statewide passed.
The 2013 numbers released Wednesday are preliminary and will be finalized after students and parents have the opportunity to request re-scores of the Applied Skills portion of the test.
